Class 1: March 23 What Grows Up Here?
Presented by Teller County Master Gardener Val Belding
Wondering about what vegetables, flowers, and landscaping plants do well in our area? Val will offer many options for you to consider, and you will receive a list of plants that grow successfully in Teller County.

Class 2: March 30 Pest Management: Insects and Furry Creatures
Presented by Teller County Master Gardener Barry Jensen
Do you have bugs on your broccoli or deer in your dill? Learn methods that will help deter pests (creepy crawlies and furry).

Class 3: April 6 Season Extending Techniques and Greenhouses
Presented by Teller County Master Gardeners Jana Bartlett and Barry Jensen
Want to start gardening earlier and extend the season later? This class covers ways to accomplish this. The benefits and challenges of greenhouse gardening will also be presented.

Class 4: April 13 Small Fruit Production; Water Law, Rain Barrels and Irrigation
Presented by Teller County Master Gardeners Brian Elzas and Barry Jensen
Brian will talk about what small fruits do well or those that at least have a chance here in Teller County (yes, you CAN grow some fruits here). Capturing rain water is legal in Colorado with some caveats. Learn what those are and how to make your own inexpensive rain barrel. Irrigation methods will also be presented.

Class 5: April 20 Trees: Selection, Planting, Care, Diseases and Pests
Presented by Colorado State Forester Derek Lowstuter
The Colorado State Forest Service will discuss how to select the proper tree, how to correctly plant and care for the tree. Information about diseases and pests of tress will also be covered.

Class 6: April 27 Soils, Fertilizers, and Mulch
Presented by a El Paso County Master Gardener Joan Nusbaum
Proper soil balance is the key to a successful garden. This class will present soil characteristics, soil testing, and the difference between compost and fertilizers as well as the use of mulch.

Note: Monday, May 4th will be used as a make-up day for any classs that are canceled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
