About Early Childhood Health Programming
We all know that children are notoriously picky eaters. During these in-school programs for preschoolers, kindergartners, and 1st graders, children try healthy foods, learn healthy habits, and explore food in a fun and engaging way.
What to expect:
Exploring Food Together
This program provides children with a healthy start in the preschool settings through simple activities that help them learn about new foods and make healthy food choices, including food identification, tasting, food origins, and culture. through interactive lessons and hands-on activities about nutrition, physical activity, and wellness. As a teacher or parent, you play a crucial role in helping children get the nourishment they need to grow and thrive. Children will learn how to use the tools they already have, to make health choices and foster wellness.
What to expect:
EatPlayGrow
This program is offered in kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms. The interactive and engaging curriculum incorporates art-making, storytelling, music and movement activities into fun, hands-on educational lessons about the importance of making positive choices in areas that most affect health: nutrition, physical activity, and sleep.
Healthy eating habits and food exploration
Children will learn about healthy eating using this fun and easy method to know when to go for it or maybe just say no thank you to less healthy options.
Movement and Wellness
Children will participate in engaging activities that teach them about nutrition, physical activity, and wellness while fostering curiosity about different foods.
Nutrition
Each program allows children to experience new foods, learn how to make healthy snacks for themselves, what nutrition means, and how to maintain it at home and school.
These programs addresses:
- Picky Eaters: some kids find a new love for fresh fruits and veggies or at least learn to appreciate them more.
- Making eating healthy fun and interesting: Children, teachers, and parents will have fun through stories, songs, art, and activities both in the classroom and at home.
- Fostering a lifetime of healthy habits: children will bring their newfound knowledge and excitement home to share with their families, continuing the healthy habits at home.

Frequently asked questions
How do I enroll my child?
If your child is enrolled in preschool, kindergarten, or 1st grade in the Woodland Park School District or Cripple Creek/Victor School District, and the school is participating, your child will automatically be enrolled in these programs. School participation varies from year to year.
What is the cost?
Zip, zero, zilch! These programs are free to your children!
What if my child has allergies?
No problem!! Your child can still participate in the activity and lesson but can eat their own snack. Please just be sure and let your child’s teacher know and our staff will make sure your child still gets the fun interaction and eats their own snack.
How will I know if my child’s school is participating?
Each child will be sent home with information when we are ready to start the program at any school. Keep an eye out for this information, the schedule varies each year.
