The Community Garden is a place for people of all ages and abilities to work together to learn and build sustainable living techniques through high altitude gardening. The community garden creates a friendly outdoor community space where the focus is on people, organic eco-friendly gardening, learning, teaching, sharing, and having fun!
Learn high-altitude gardening

Join the Community Garden to learn high-altitude, sustainable gardening alongside neighbors and CP’s Master Gardener while growing fresh, healthy produce. Gardeners of all ages, skill levels, and abilities are welcome! The main gardening season runs from the last spring frost to the first fall frost, typically June through September or October. Explore a variety of gardening techniques perfect for our mountain climate.
Sustainability
Organic gardening practices enrich the soil and food while protecting the land and conserving open space and wildlife habitats for the benefit of future generations.
Community
Gardens foster connection and cooperation, bring people together to learn, grow, and build a more sustainable community.
Education
Weekly work and learn days provide opportunities for community members to learn gardening techniques and skills for our high-altitude environment. We encourage learning across the age span and welcome the whole family.
The community garden addresses:
- High altitude gardening.
- Variety - pollinator bed, demonstration gardens, potato patch, and much more.
- Community collaboration.
- Native plants and produce for high altitude climates.
Common topics for participants:
Gardening tips and techniques.
- Garden maintenance and management.
- Different methods for different environments.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have volunteer opportunities?
Yes. It is a community effort. Help build garden beds, water, maintain the grounds, pull weeds and more. Join us anytime during the scheduled dates on our monthly gardening activity calendar that is posted on our website or contact CP to learn how you can get involved. Open to all ages and no experience required.
Do you need previous garden experience?
No. We have a Master Gardener to help you every step of the way.
How old do you have to be to participate?
There is no age requirement. We love to see people of all ages at the gardens learning and growing alongside one another.
What is the time commitment to participate?
Come when you can and stay as long as you’d like during the scheduled dates. Check out our monthly gardening activity calendar on our website for details on topics and times.
Do I have to bring my own garden tools?
No. A limited number of garden tools are available for use during the garden season.
