About Our Community Gardens
Our Community Gardens are a place for people of all ages and abilities to work together to learn and build sustainable living techniques through high altitude gardening. The community gardens create a friendly outdoor community space where the focus is on people, organic eco-friendly gardening, learning, teaching, sharing, and having fun!
Learn high-altitude gardening
alongside fellow community members
Community Gardens will help you learn about high-altitude and sustainable gardening while working with other community members and our Master Gardener to grow tasty and healthy produce. All ages, skills levels, and abilities are welcome to join. Gardening season runs from the last frost of Spring to the first frost of Fall, generally June- September/October. We can extend the garden season a bit with limited winter gardening and our greenhouse.
Sustainability
Learn organic gardening practices that enrich the soil and our food while protecting the land and conserving open space and wildlife habitats for the benefit of future generations.
Community
Our Gardens encourage a community experience, building relationships, encouraging cooperation among other gardeners or community members, learning and working alongside one another for sustainability. You can keep your produce or donate it to CP’s Food Pantry.

Parent / Caregiver Testimonials
I’ve been involved with the gardens for a few years. I really appreciate the support and guidance that I’ve received during my time there. I also really enjoy the interaction with other gardeners, especially first-time gardeners and seeing their results.
It was just my husband and I as we don’t have children, but we truly enjoyed the program and the connections we made. We look forward to participating again in the coming year.
I enjoyed gardening and learning what grows well in this area (I moved here from Florida)

Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay for a garden bed?
No. Our community garden beds are free of charge and donations are always welcome. Seeds are provided but feel free to bring your own too.
Do you have volunteer opportunities?
Yes. You can adopt a garden bed to maintain, come out and water, maintain the grounds, pull weeds and other opportunities. We offer ongoing and one-day volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals of all skill and experience levels.
Do you need previous garden experience?
No. We have a Master Gardener to help you every step of the way.
How old do you have to be to participate?
There is no age requirement. We love to see people of all ages at the gardens learning and growing alongside one another.
What is the time commitment to participate?
We ask that you commit to coming to the gardens weekly to help care, water, and weed throughout the summer. If you can’t attend for a week, please just communicate with us so we can help tend to your garden for that week. There are other opportunities to participate and learn if you don’t want your own bed.
What will I be responsible for?
You will be responsible for watering, maintaining, weeding, and harvesting your assigned garden bed, as well as maintaining the common space.
Do I have to bring my own garden tools?
No. A limited number of garden tools are available for use during the garden season.
Can I bring my own fertilizer and gardening materials to put in my garden?
Personal garden bed coverings, fixtures, fertilizers, and soil amendments are not allowed on-site without approval from our Master Gardener. This is to ensure the safety of all garden beds, as well as to respect the donated land our gardens use.
